OOPBuy link status decoder

A URL can load and still point to a changed product, default option or unrelated destination.

Direct answerClassify a link as matching, changed, unavailable, unrelated or inconclusive. “Working” describes access only and must never be used as a trust, authenticity, stock or quality label.

Five useful link states

State Evidence Next action
Matching Final destination and identifying fields match the saved record. Record the date and recheck before payment.
Changed The page loads but the item, seller, images or available options differ. Create a new evidence record.
Unavailable The item is removed, sold out or has no usable option. Stop or compare another candidate.
Unrelated The redirect ends at a homepage, login, promotion or different product. Do not treat it as the original listing.
Inconclusive Automation is blocked, the page requires a session or key details cannot be read. Verify in a normal browser; do not mark dead from a blocked bot alone.

Check the final destination

Record the destination after redirects, not only the visible anchor text. Compare the item ID, marketplace, seller identity, primary images and available options with the original note. A familiar title is not enough.

Separate link health from product risk

Link health answers “did this address resolve to the expected page?” Product risk asks different questions about claims, evidence, restrictions, seller terms and suitability. Keep the two fields separate so a green link badge cannot create false confidence.

What if a checker is blocked?

Some platforms restrict automated requests. A timeout, 403 response or challenge can be an automation limitation rather than a dead product. Record the automated result as inconclusive and check visibly before changing editorial status.

Link questions

Does a matching link prove the product is in stock?

No. Stock can vary by option and can change after the check. Confirm the exact live variant immediately before payment.

Should a redirected link always be removed?

No. First inspect the final page. A permanent move to the same product may be valid; a homepage or unrelated product is not.

Sources and limits

The live PickFound directory is the external destination currently used by this site. A public OOPBuy product page visibly distinguishes unavailable items and risk notices. Results remain time-specific.
